Requirements to install and run SCT:

  • Operating system: Windows 8/10 or Windows Server 2012 or later
  • .NET Framework 4.7 (the SCT installer will download and install the required components; you can also download the .NET Framework 4.7.2 installer from the Microsoft website)
  • Suggested PC configuration: CPU min. 2 Core x 2.4 GHz, min. 4 GB RAM

Getting started with SCT

After logging in to your Scout account, click the appropriate button to download the SCT installer.

The installer will guide you through the subsequent stages of installation and install the necessary applications and components.

The first time you start SCT, a window will appear listing the control systems to choose from:

Choose the right control system for your machine, enter the necessary information (usually just enter the machine’s IP address), enter your Scout login details and … that’s it! The machine will be added to the Scout website and will be visible on the Desktop and in the SCT:

Receiving data from machines and sending to the Scout server

By default, SCT receives data from machines and forwards it to the Scout server only when SCT is running. After closing the SCT, the data will stop being transmitted. This is the so-called “SCT Application mode”.

However, it is possible to switch to “Windows Services mode”: in this case, SCT will set up Windows services (Windows Service) running in the background and running when the computer starts. Thanks to this, data is always transferred when the computer is running and you do not have to manually start the SCT application.

Windows Service mode

To switch SCT to Windows Services mode, click “YES” in the dialog box when closing the SCT or enter Settings -> select the control system and then for “Service start mode [NAME]” select: “Windows Service” and then “Submit”.

Application mode

To switch SCT into Application mode go to Settings -> select the control system and then for “Service start mode [NAME]” select: “Application” and then “Submit”.
